Shillong, Feb 15: Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress ,State Media Chairman, Junebirth C. Marak has urged Meghalaya Education Recruitment Board to extend exam dates.
Marak said the Meghalaya
Education Recruitment Board (MERB)
scheduled the examinations on February 21 and 28, for the posts of Assistant Teachers (Arts) and Assistant Lecturers (Arts and Science).
,After a prolonged gap of nearly seven to nine years, examinations are conducted by MERB. The exams were previously conducted under the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC).
While the formation of the new Board and initiation of the recruitment process is appreciated, the sudden announcement of the examination dates without
adequate prior notice has left many candidates with insufficient preparation time, Marak said.
Considering the long recruitment gap and the highly competitive nature of these examinations, a preparation period of only a few weeks is inadequate for serious aspirants, Marak said .
Many candidates, particularly those who have been waiting for years, are now nearing or crossing the upper age limit,
making this one of their final opportunities for employment.
“In light of these concerns, we humbly request the Meghalaya Education Recruitment Board to: extend the examination dates to allow sufficient preparation time.
The demands
• Provide a reasonable preparation window in fairness to all candidates.
• Take into consideration the challenges faced by overaged aspirants affected by the prolonged recruitment gap.
“We sincerely hope the authorities will give due consideration to this request in the larger interest of aspiring teachers and lecturers across the state”, Marak said.
