Shillong, Nov 1: Two rapists were sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment by the Special Judge (POCSO) East Khasi Hills.
The punishment was for raping a 12- year-old girl six years ago.
The accused are Mortonjune Kharbani (45-50) and Lumding Syiemlieh.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000.
The FIR against Kharbani was filed on December 3, 2018. The victim, a class VII student, was raped multiple times in 2017 in her house while she was alone at home.
In the course of investigation it was revealed that the
victim had also been sexually assaulted by another co-accused Lumding Syiemlieh.
