Shillong, Mar 21: Police have detained two more accused in connection with the recovery of IEDs in Ri Bhoi following the blast in Harijan Colony.
Ri Bhoi SP Jagpal Singh Dhanoa, in a statement issued here on Thursday said that with reference to Nongpoh PS case no.25 (3)24 u/s 120B/121A IPC r/w Sec 10/13/18 UA(P) Act and Sec 5/6 Explosives substance Act, two more persons have been detained by Ri-Bhoi police and during their interrogation of and of several others, it has come to light that proscribed outfit HNLC is indulging in brain washing of innocent youth by unleashing vicious propaganda with an objective to keep their extortion industry running.
“Police is also investigating if any financial contributions were/are made to the banned outfit. Any person having association of any kind will be questioned and legal liability will be fixed under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
One more case
One more case has also been registered regarding hoisting of HNLC flag on National Highway in Ri Bhoi district in August 2023 vide Nongpoh PS case no. 28(3) 24 u/s 120B/121A IPC r/w Sec 10/13 UA(P)Act.
“All nefarious activities of HNLC are being conducted through social media and VOIP platforms. All are advised that if they get any contact/call from HNLC they are to immediately inform the police and block the profile/number making contact. Further, we are releasing one video of conversation between so called military commander Sanbor Pala of HNLC and one of the main accused in Ribhoi IED blast recovery case.
It remains our commitment that anybody having any connection with proscribed HNLC is brought to the book and accountability be fixed”, the SP added.
