Smit, July 3: Police are examining whether any explosive was used resulting in the death of the 38-year-old bed-ridden man at Lumkynsai, Smit in on Monday.
He was suffering from spinal-related complication for the last three months and surgery was done two months back.
Police said that the person identified as Pynsuklang Khongwir attempted suicide twice- once consuming medicines and another in rushing to Sohra with his friend which was prevented by the family.
Hence, the police are not ruling out the suicide angle by the use of explosive.

The man asked the domestic help to switch off the electric mattress and later the maid, who was upstairs, heard a loud noise.

Broken glass splinters of windows were seen outside the house.
East Khasi Hills SP Sylvester Nongtynger said, “In the preliminary enquiry, it was revealed by the members of the family that the deceased person had undergone a spinal surgery 2 months back and was bed ridden. The family members also mentioned that the deceased person had earlier attempted suicide twice”.
According to the SP, during the examination of place of occurrence, bits and pieces of power source for initiation of blast were identified. “The Bomb Squad team and Crime Scene Unit (CSU) team are verifying the cause of explosion.
