Shillong, March 28: Police have identified the accused who threatened a driver at Rilbong point here on Saturday.
After the circulation of the video in this regard, police acted swiftly to identify the accused as there was a speculation that he was a policeman.
An official said the identity of the accused was established and the police are working on the next step.
The statement of the SP below
“Following a video which has widely ciculated on social media where one person was seen assaulting and threatening a Mahindra Maxx taxi driver to put him behind bars and where many have alleged that person to be a policeman , an enquiry was made and it is ascertained that the person on the video is not a policeman but a civilian. In this regard a suo moto case has been filed and legal action will be taken accordingly. East Khasi Police is committed to not only maintain decorum amongst its men and maintain the rule of law but more importantly to protect the citizens’.
