Shillong, July 21: Police are probing the involvement of more people in connection with the murder of four persons in Umpleng, East Jaintia Hills.
Police arrested the fourth accused involved in the murder on July 19, a police official said on Sunday and added that they are looking for more people who were involved in the crime.
Police do not want to reveal the names of the accused as they intend to make more arrests.
The mutilated bodies of four victims with almost severed heads and their hands tied were found on July 6 at Umpleng.
The victims are Loba Tamang of Umpleng, Rajesh Rai (26) from Umsyllih before reaching PHE, Rymbai, Nazar Kyndait (33) a resident of Dkhiah East and Ravi Rai (23) residing at Umthe under Umpleng.
Motive of crime
When asked about the motive of the crime, police said that it was due to personal enmity.
To a further question as to why the four accused arrested till date resorted to brutal way of killing the victims as the motive was personal enmity, the official said investigation was on to ascertain the motive.
However, the crime is related to drugs and coal-related issues, sources say.
