Shillong, May 8: An unexploded 13 inches long military tank artillery shell having circumference of 12 inches (3.5-inch diameter) was found at Mawlynrei Nonglum, here while digging for construction work. The land where it was found is privately owned.

East Khasi Hills SP Rituraj Ravi said the shell has been placed into safe custody and is being examined by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) of Meghalaya police. “An investigation is being done to identify the origins of the shell. Further necessary action to safely dispose of the shell is under progress”, the SP added.
