Shillong, Aug 3: West Jaintia Hills police solved the murder case of Damehi Mulieh (28)
His body was recovered from Khlichriat, East Jaintia Hills on July 31.
Three accused persons have been arrested.
On July 31,Jowai police received information that a Maruti Alto K10 (Registration No. ML05 AG 0285) belonging to an unknown person has been detained by Gumrah police, Cachar District, Assam, along with two persons who were in possession of the vehicle. Acting promptly, a police team from Phramer Traffic Cell, West Jaintia Hills proceeded to Gumrah, Assam, coordinated with the local police, seized the vehicle following due legal procedure, and brought the accused persons to Meghalaya for further investigation.
Simultaneously, the family of the deceased whose body was recovered from Khliehriat informed that the vehicle belonged to the deceased.
A vehicle theft and murder case was registered vide Jowai PS Case No. 56(07)2026 under sections 103(1) and 140(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Based on the investigation, two accused persons were arrested on 31.07.2026:
1. DapjingkmenPaslein (26 years),
S/o Aitilut Paslein, R/o Lakasein Village, East Jaintia Hills District.
2. Samuel lakai (25 years),
S/o Riming lakai, R/o Umkyrpong Village, East Jaintia Hills District.
And further investigations led to arrest of 3rd accused on August 4.
He has been identified as.Duniwankmen Sutnga (26 ),son of Montu Dkhar, a resident of Khaidong Village, East Jaintia Hills District.
All three accused persons have been produced before the court, and the investigation is on to establish the complete sequence of events and to collect all relevant evidences.
