Shillong,June 16: Meghalaya police will investigate beyond the initial motive of triangular love to find out what triggered the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, the husband of Sonam who is the principal accused in the crime.
“We are looking to see whether there is anything additional as it is unusual that within a few days of marriage the person (Sonam) developed so much animosity to her husband that led to the crime”, DGP Idashisha Nongrang said on Monday.
According to Nongrang, various angles of the planned murder will have to be investigated.
As the police will go beyond the current motive of the crime, the angles such as property/hawal issues, personal rivalry, among others are also not ruled out.
Police will also investigate to get details about two persons who dropped Sonam as revealed by Sonam’s co-passenger Ujala Yadav in a bus in UP.
The DGP also ruled out narco test of the accused as demanded by the family of the victim.
Raja’s gold ornaments with Sonam
There were no gold ornaments when the body of Raja Raghuvanshi was recovered on June 2 from a gorge in Weisawdong, Sohra.
When asked, the DGP said, “The jewellery is not missing as the main accused kept them in a particular place.. we will be looking into that”.
