Shillong, Feb 14: The police have cautioned those who dump materials and park vehicles at night on road thereby obstructing pedestrian movement.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, East Khasi Hills SP said that High Court of Meghalaya had issued a direction on February 7 referring to a PIL of 2023 to restrict dumping of construction materials, carrying out activities on the roadside which pose a serious hazard to the flow of traffic and lives of pedestrians and the overnight parking of vehicles by owners who do not have proper parking space in their premises so that right of way is not impeded.
In this connection, the Shillong Traffic Police (STP) has appealed to the people to comply with the directions for the safety of other road users and pedestrians.
“The co-operation of one and all in the matter will be highly appreciated. Any violation of the above directions will be viewed seriously and will attract penal provisions of law”, the SP added
