Shillong, Feb 25: Several polling and security personnel were injured in an accident at Photamati when they were on the way to Jangrapara LP School of Raksamgre Assembly constituency on Saturday. According to the West Garo Hills district election officer, it appears that the vehicle overturned on the road. It was reported that there is serious facial and head injury to one polling official. Minor injuries have been reported for other polling officials and security personnel.
The injured were shifted to nearest Tikrikilla CHC from where two polling officers are being referred to a higher medical facility in Goalpara.
All others were given the first aid treatment. “All needed medical assistance is being provided to all the injured persons”, the official added.
Polling materials and EVM/VVPAT were secured by the concerned sector magistrate accompanied by the concerned sector police officer in the presence of CAPF and were taken to the concerned polling station which is being guarded by CAPF so that transparency of the electoral process is ensured..
