Portal opened to avail citizens’ related services

Shillong, July 15: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday launched the portal of Meghalaya State Public Services Delivery Commission, which is headed by former Chief Secretary MS Rao.
The initiative is based on the Meghalaya Right to Public Services Act, 2020 to provide state citizen’s right to time-bound delivery of notified services from the government departments.
The Act has provision of fine to the delinquent officers.
Out of 86 notified services,there are 72 online and 14 offline services, which will also be made online by September.
The commission plans another 188 services to be brought under online to make the volume of services to 274.
If the services are denied, the applicant can appeal to appellate authority and finally to the commission and hearing can also take place online, Rao said.
Some of the high volume services notified are registration of migrant workers, renewal of contractor’s license and renewal of registration under the Meghalaya Shops and Establishments Act.
The yet to be notified high volume services are ST certificates, registration of farmers, issuance of farmer ID cards, certificates for recruitment in armed/paramilitary/police forces, permanent resident certificates and income certificates.
