Premiere of ‘Postcards from Meghalaya’ on National Geographic
Shillong, June 10, 2024: Department of Tourism has announced the premiere of ‘Postcards from Meghalaya’ on National Geographic. The series aims to transport viewers to the landscapes of Meghalaya, highlighting its rich cultural heritage, natural beauty and cuisine.
The goverment, in a statement, said that produced by National Geographic Creative Works, ‘Postcards from Meghalaya’ offers an immersive exploration of the state’s hidden gems and cherished traditions. From the bustling streets of Shillong to the serene waters of Umiam Lake and the iconic living root bridges of Nongriat, the show captures the diverse and picturesque locales of Meghalaya. Each episode delves into the unique traditions and indigenous knowledge of the Khasi people, revealing their deep connection to the land and their role as stewards of its lush ecosystems.
The host of the programme Larisa D’Sa shared her perspective on Meghalaya, describing it as a region ripe for exploration and adventure. She expressed her excitement for solo journeys through Meghalaya, emphasising the thrill of uncovering hidden treasures and meeting remarkable individuals along the way. Larisa painted a vivid picture of Meghalaya’s natural beauty and cultural richness, inviting others to join her in experiencing its wonders firsthand.
The series provides viewers with an intimate look at the local lifestyle, music, including traditional customs and culinary. From spicy bamboo shoots to succulent smoked meats, ‘Postcards from Meghalaya’ showcases the rich flavours and cooking techniques that define the region’s rich food and culinary culture, the government said.
