Shillong, Jan 12: The A·chik State Peoples’ Front (ASPF) and Garoland State Movement Committee have opposed the notification of MBoSE giving more powers to Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT).
In separate statements, both the pressure groups wanted the government not to dilute the powers of the MBoSE.
According to the pressure groups, the January 2nd notification seeks to centralize and appropriate the core academic powers of the MBOSE under DERT
The Garoland State Movement Committee has asked the government to withdraw the notification.
1. Immediate withdrawal of any proposal or notification aimed at ceasing or curtailing the powers of MBOSE.
2. Full transparency on the intent, scope, and legal basis of DERT’s move.
The committee has sought consultation with student bodies, educators, and regional stakeholders before any structural change is considered.
