Prestone meets Pope in Vatican

Shillong,Aug 20: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong met Pope Leo XIV in the Vatican at a private audience on Wednesday.
Tynsong was the first from Meghalaya to have met the Pope, just within three months after the Pontiff’s election as the Head of the Catholic Church and the Vatican City.Prestone sought the apostolic blessings of the Vicar of Christ on the State of Meghalaya.
The Pope conferred his apostolic blessings on Prestone and the State. He
conveyed his special greetings to the people of Meghalaya. He offered encouragement and reaffirmed the importance of fostering peace and unity in the State.

The meeting took place during discussions about the state of affairs of Meghalaya, wherein the Deputy Chief Minister sought the Pope’s blessing for Meghalaya. He appreciated the dauntless efforts of the political and religious leaders of Meghalaya in their relentless efforts in curbing problems.
