Prestone says threat to Garos is serious, assures action

Shillong, Jan 28: Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Home, Prestone Tynsong, on Wednesday said that the threat to Garos, who are living in the plains of Garo Hills, is serious and assured action.

Speaking to reporters, Tynsong said that the police are on the job to identify those who are involved.

Earlier on Wednesday, the West Garo Hills District police had removed the poster pasted on an electric pole near Law College, Araimile, Tura, which said that the Garos from the plains should leave by 2027.

The poster was under the caption ‘Warning to Garos’ attributed to ISIS-K Aminur Islam, Plain Belt Area Commander.
Police have already registered a case.

The state BJP and the CoMSO have sought an investigation by the central agency regarding the matter.

Cabinet minister and government spokesperson Marcuise Marak also wanted the police to investigate the matter.
