Shillong, Oct 31: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong took over as the state president of the NPP.
Tynsong took over the post from W R Kharlukhi, who had served as the president for 16 years.

Kharlukhi’s time with the NPP was longer as a confidante and friend of (L) Purno A Sangma. “We are thankful to him for his years of dedication and for his indelible contribution to the NPP”, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said.
According to the chief minister, who is also the national president , Prestone with his years of experience in state politics will take the responsibility from Dr. Kharlukhi and improve NPP’s reach and mission in Meghalaya and the North East.
