Ardent Basaiawmoit(VPP) pointed out extortion as the reason for the price hike.

In reply to a question by Matthew B Kurbah (UDP), the food and civil supplies minister Comingone Ymbon said that monitoring of prices of essential commodities through price monitoring centres is done and action is taken.

Special Rural Works Programme (SRWP)

Earlier, raising a question, Saleng wanted the government to raise SRWP from the current Rs 2.50 crore as the amount is not enough to help the people of his constituency.

In reply, the chief minister expressed the inability to raise the amount but added that SRWP is not the only fund which can be used to help the people of the constituency.

“Meghalaya SRWP is on a higher side and it was only five years back that the additional amount of Rs 50 lakh was added”, Conrad said.
