Radical land survey pledge in VPP manifesto

Shillong, Feb 20: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) manifesto released by the party president Ardent Basaiawmoit  and other leaders on Monday highlighted the need to conduct a land cadastral survey.

The party pledged to enact appropriate legislation to prevent the inequitable landholding.

The party will also frame a legislation for regulation of agricultural land from non-agricultural purpose.

Other than the review of border pact and reservation policy, CBI inquiry into MDA scams, pursuing ILP and Khasi language recognition,  the initiatives proposed by the party included reforming MBoSE , providing affordable health care, providing minimum support price to certain cash crops, the need to check rural migration of people, construction of skywalks to ease traffic congestion, reviving MeECL, improving public transport, restructuring MPSC, implementation of The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, introduction of article 371 of Constitution of India, creation of parks for recreation of seniors citizens and children.

“The Voice of the People Party strongly believes that It is possible through clean politics to Revive, Restore and Transform Meghalaya for the betterment. Together we believe we can make Meghalaya a progressive state”, the manifesto said.
