Railway a closed chapter after surrender of money: MP

Shillong, April 15: Rajya Sabha member WR Kharlukhi said the issue of railway in Meghalaya has ended after the surrender of Rs 200 crore, meant for the project, to the Centre.
His response was when asked about  the government’s decision to constitute an all- party committee to examine the issue of railway connectivity in the Khasi and Jaintia region of the state.
“Now that the government returned the money from where will they get the money again?” he asked.
He said the proposed consultative meeting may be for coming up with the railway projects in the near future.
Regarding VPP’s decision not to participate in the all-party committee on railways, Kharlukhi said, “What the government needs is a constructive opposition. I don’t know by not being in that consultative committee it is constructive or destructive I don’t know.”
