
Shillong, Aug 30:The Kerala railway police began a probe into the death of a youth from Mawlai on a train.
The 26-year-old Jonathan Rynjah from Mawlai Nongkwar was found unconscious in the bathroom of the S6 coach of Dibrugarh- Kanyakumari Vivek Express (22504).
According to the police, around 2.40 pm on August 29, as the train reached platform number 3 of Palakkad Railway Station in Kerala, Jonathan was found unconscious in the coach.
He was taken in an ambulance to Palakkad District Hospital, where the doctor found him dead. A case was registered under Section 194 of BNSS.
The casualty medical officer informed the police, leading to registration of the case for investigation at the railway police station in Palakkad.
DGP Idashisha Nongrang said the probe was on to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident in the train.
Chief Secretary DP Wahlang said the state government officials were in touch with their counterparts in Palakkad.
The police are assisting the family members who rushed to Kerala on Saturday, also supported by the local MLA.
Mortal remains will be brought after the inquest and post-mortem examination. The SP has already arranged a mortuary van to bring the body from Guwahati airport to Shillong, the official said.
Jonathan travelled to Kerala after securing a job there.
