Rajini to receive Dhadasaheb Phalke award
Chennai, Oct 24 (UNI): Tamil superstar Rajinikanth on Sunday left for New Delhi where he will be conferred with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award on Monday.
Talking to reporters before leaving for the National capital, he said he did not expect that he would be chosen for this prestigious award. “But I am happy for having being chosen for the award,” he added.
He said he was saddened that his mentor and renowned director K Balachander is not alive to see him getting the award. “It is saddening that KB sir is not there to see him getting the honour.”
In a statement, Rajini said, “Tomorrow is an important occasion for me with two special landmarks. One, Dadasaheb Phalke award, being conferred upon me by the Government of India because of the love and support of the people.”
“Second, my daughter Soundarya Vishagan, by her independent efforts has pioneered the making of a very useful app for people called ‘Hoote’ and she is going to introduce it to the world from India, he said.
“People can now express through their voice their thoughts, wishes and ideas just like they do in writing in any language of their choice,” he said, adding, “I am very happy to launch this innovative, useful and the first of its kind Hoote App in my voice.”
