
Shillong, Feb 9: A record number of 64369 SSLC students will appear for MBoSE exams on Monday (Feb 10).
The second highest was in 2021 during Covid with 64269 students as there was relaxation of norms considering the pandemic.
The Director of Shillong MBoSE, M.Marbaniang said the record number of students this year is due to the fact that the government wanted every student to appear for the examinations and the selection test was carried out accordingly.
“We made it easier for them to clear the selection test”, he added.
This year, out of 64369 examinees, the girls are 37852 and the boys stand at 26517.
The number of students appeared in 2024 was 55189. In 2023, the number was 51280.
The students appeared in other years are 2022(57371) 2021- Covid period(64269),2020 (50081), 2019(50050), 2018(50077), 2017 (50974), 2016(50126) and in 2015 (45867).
New initiative from this year
According to the MBoSE director, supplementary SSLC exams for those students who fail in subjects, will be held in April.
“This is a new initiative from this year which will help to improve the pass percentage”, Marbaniang said.
The MBoSE official said the CM-Impact guide books are helping the students to prepare for the examinations.
On the eve of the examinations, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma wished all the best for the students.
