Resolution adopted in Delhi to pursue Khasi language issue
Shillong, Sep 30: A resolution was adopted at the national seminar in New Delhi to pursue recognition to Khasi language coupled with a peaceful demonstration on September 29 and 30.
The Khasi Authors’ Society organised the national seminar (Ka Lympung Ï amir Jingtip) and the demonstration at Jantar Mantar.
The resolution stresses on the need to seek a response from the Union Home Minister regarding the memorandum for the inclusion of the Khasi language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India that the Khasi Authors’ Society had submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs on January 1, 2021 and January 24 .
Another resolution is to urge the Government of India through the Ministry of Home Affairs to take necessary steps to introduce an official bill in the Parliament for the inclusion of the Khasi language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution.
It was decided to submit the documentation containing exhaustive information about Khasi language, literature and culture and also concrete justifications for the inclusion of the Khasi language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution.
The Khasi Authors Society will wait for a respectable lapse of time, before it takes up further actions on the issue.
