Shillong, April 26: A delegation of Ri Bhoi pressure groups -Meghalaya People’s Social Organisation (MPSO), Meghalaya People’s United Front (MPUF) and Ri Bhoi Youth Organisation (RBYO) met Power Minister AT Mondal on Wednesday and sought his intervention to address erratic power supply and unscheduled load shedding in the district.
Mondal told the members of the joint action committee that he will have a review meeting to discuss the matter.
Later, speaking to reporters, Mondal said that there will be no respite from load shedding till the state gets some relief in the grid.
“This issue will continue till we get some relief in the grid but we are taking all steps possible to see that the load shedding hours are minimised.”
Mondal said the government cannot afford to buy power at a high rate. “We can buy power within our limit. We cannot go beyond that otherwise it will put us in more financial crunch,” he said.
