Shillong, July 13: South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai has donated his one month salary for felicitating six differently abled students.
The BJP legislator’s initiative was as a mark of recognition of their achievement in academics and sports.
The felicitation event was organised by the Raid Laban Sports Social and Cultural Club at the State Convention Centre on Saturday.
The students are from Fernando Speech and Hearing Centre, Umïam Ri Bhoi District, Bethany Society, Shillong, Jyoti Sroat School, Shillong and Lumparing Vidhyapeeth Secondary School, Shillong.
Shullai said out of his Rs 2.3 lakh monthly salary, he has decided to donate Rs 1 lakh to Priska Pyngrope from Bethany Society, who would soon represent India in the World Arms Wrestling to be held at Maldova, Europe.
The MLA gave Rs 20,000 each to other five students including Ankita Das, who scored 89 percent in the 2024 SSLC examination.
