Shillong, May 22: Sangeet Natak Akademi has selected about 20 students of Seng Riti Cultural Organisation at Wahkhen for a scholarship for training in traditional performances as part of its support to rural cultural centres.
The Akademi will also give an honorarium to the gurus. The Pahambir Cultural Club was granted three sets of musical instruments and traditional costumes for some performers.

There was also a proposal to nominate an award for a few outstanding gurus in the future, based on their contribution to the regular practice, growth and refinement of traditional art forms.
