Shillong,.July 5:The members of Sarada Sangha Shillong commemorated the 125th death anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on Saturday (July 4) by distributing free meals to the poor.
President of the Sangha, Uma Purkayastha said on the occasion of the 125th death anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the members of Sarada Sangha, commemorated his universal message,” To serve man is to serve God”.
The members of the Sarada Sangha Shillong served lunch to the regular attendants of Aahar.
Purkayastha said the members, with motherly affection, served food, and the beneficiaries expressed their satisfaction.
Purkayastha said the Sangha has been performing many such benevolent works without help from the government for the benefit of the poor and the needy, irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
“The Sangha has completed its glorious 71 years, following the ideal of great Mother Sarada Devi, the ideal of India’ s womanhood”, Purkayastha added.
