Saturday Night Live to pay tribute to comic legend Betty White

Los Angeles, Jan 2 (UNI): Saturday Night Live has decided to pay tribute to American actress Betty White by re-airing the episode she had hosted in 2010.

White died on December 31 at the age of 99, just a few weeks shy of her 100th birthday.

The legendary comedian’s episode of Saturday Night Live was aired on NBC a day after her passing. White had an extensive catalogue of films and TV serials and her death was disheartening news to many of her fans, deadline.com said.

White hosted the show back in 2010 after a successful fan campaign on Facebook. She has since then become the oldest person to host an episode of the show, at the time she was 88 with Jay-Z being the musical guest.

The long-running sketch comedy show announced the tribute in a tweet Saturday afternoon, with the message ‘Rest in Peace, Betty White’.

Former Saturday Night Live castmates Molly Shannon, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Tina Fey, Rachael Dratch, and Ana Gasteyer all returned for the episode.
