Search on for missing agriculture officer in river

Shillong, Aug 4: The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) continued its search for the agriculture officer Teseng M. Sangma, who was swept away, while attempting to cross Ganol river, on Sunday.
In a statement issued on Monday, PH Shylla, Senior Staff Officer & Additional PRO, Directorate of Civil Defence & Home Guards, said the SDRF, continued search and rescue operations at Sella Wari, near Tura, West Garo Hills, since Sunday, to locate the the agriculture officer, on Monday.
The SDRF started the operations since 4 pm on Sunday after being activated by the West Garo Hills district administration.
Police and Fire and Emergency Services have also joined the team.
The operation was halted at 7 pm on Sunday due to low visibility in the area.
The SDRF’s operation re-commenced on Monday at 8 am with the team concentrating their efforts in the downstream area of the river at Pelga Wari. According to Deputy Controller of Civil Defence, West Garo Hills, Timai K Sangma
who is leading the SDRF team, the operation is still ongoing as the officer is yet to be located.
