Security forces withdrawn from NEHU

Shillong, April 28: After tension in NEHU following the arrest of NEHUSU president Sandy Sohtun, the government has decided to withdraw the security force on Monday night.
With the student bodies opposing the presence of police personnel in the campus, it was announced that the forces will be withdrawn.
Earlier, assistant professor Alok Singh had lodged a complaint regarding his assault by NEHUSU president and five others.
The VC -incharge S.M.Sungoh had written to the district administration on the need to withdraw the forces.
‘”Considering the prevailing situation in NEHU Shillong Campus, at the same time to prevent any untoward incident it is requested to remove the police personnel from inside the campus and station them outside gate no 2″, she said.
According to Sungoh, the NEHU security personnel will be patrolling in and around the campus and if any problem arises the state police will be informed immediately.
