Seng Samla Pynthorumkhrah Parish celebrates golden jubilee 

Shillong, Aug18: The Parish Youth Association of Pynthorumkhrah celebrated its golden jubilee with year-long programmes, beginning with a Gospel Choir Competition held on August 17 at Peter Hall. The jubilee commemorates the journey of the St. Peter & Paul Parish Youth Association since its inception in 1975, which will culminate in December 2025.

In the choir competition, a total of eight groups participated:Three parishes – Mawpdang, Nongmensong, and Mawpat Five CMC groups from Pynthorumkhrah Parish – St. Thomas CMC, Sacred Heart CMC, St. John Paul Mawpun CMC, U Syiem Ki Syiem CMC Langkyrding Mihngi, and CMC Syiem of Jingsuk Langkyrding.

The journey of the Parish Youth, inspired by St. Don Bosco, Patron of Youth, has been marked with struggles, blessings, and achievements, serving as fruitful seeds for the generations to come.

The choir competition posed a challenge to the judges due to the exceptional performances, blending traditional voices with modern musical influences and technological advancement. In the group category, St. Thomas CMC Pynthorbah emerged as the winner, while Mawpdang Parish secured second place and CMC Sacred Heart Lumshyiap claimed third.

In the solo category, Kheiñkor Mylliemngap bagged first place, followed by Olivia Mylliempdah in second and Dayonika Shabong in third.

The jubilee celebration was graced by Fr. Laurence L. Nongkseh, Parish Priest of Pynthorumkhrah, along with members of the Parish Council, the Seng Kynthei and Seng Rangbah, leaders of the Shillong Archdiocese Catholic Youth Movement, and hundreds of young people.

The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners and the singing of the Parish Youth Anthem, marking a joyous milestone in the 50-year journey of the association.
