Sensex up by 613, Nifty gains 185
Mumbai, May 18 (UNI): The BSE Sensex on Tuesday rallied further by 612.60 points, breaching 50,000 level to close at 50,193.35 on the strength of auto, consumer durable, capital goods and industrials stocks amid strong global peers.
Nifty too gained 184.95 points to 15,108.10.
The day opened on a strong note at 49,986.68, up by 406 points. During the day it surged 733 points to 50,313.25, the day’s high, before closing at 50,193.33, surging 612.60 points from its previous close.
Sensex registered day’s high and low at 50,313.25 and 49,959.20 points, respectively.
Nifty recorded day’s high and low at 15,137.25 and 15,043.70 points, respectively.
The sectoral indices which went up were auto by 3.19% followed by consumer discretionary goods and services by 2.50%, consumer durable by 2.47%, capital goods by 2.33% and industrials by 2.50%.
The scrips that advanced were Tata Motors and Bajaj Auto by more than 5% each followed by Titan and Bajaj finance by more than 4% each.
The mid cap rose by 1.87% and small cap by 1.28%. In 30 scrips, 26 advanced while four declined.
