Speaking on the incident, Agnes said speedy justice should be delivered.

“We have not received any compensation and the government provided only medical care”, she said.

Regarding the pending case, Agnes said the case will linger when there is involvement of people in power.

Both Agnes and Amita have been facing  health complications since 2018

However, the attack has not deterred them from speaking out.

“We can’t remain silent when those who are in power loot the state”, she said.

Illegal mining is still continuing, the government should use drones which will expose mining activities, Agnes said.

Amita Sangma is unsure when the case will be over

Regarding the compensation, Amita said, “When we were in hospital one legislator informed that compensation will be paid within seven days  but it was not followed up” .

Amita admitted that after the incident, she developed health issues.

According to Amita, mining is still continuing.

“Illegal coal mining is continuing …500 to 600 trucks daily move from Jaintia Hills to Guwahati. Those who are close to some MLAs charge Rs 90,000 per truck…It is happening high level , so government will not take any action”, she added.
