“BJP government has brought peace for the first time to Manipur. It has taken Manipur away from blockades, drugs, terrorism, and it is moving on a path of peace and prosperity,” Shah said.

“I promise today, if BJP govt comes back to power, we will talk to all rebel groups, and peace would be established on these mountains,” he added.

The Union home minister said 9,500 youth have given up arms and joined the mainstream. “It is time to talk to the youth, take them in confidence, and bring everyone back to the mainstream,” he said.

Shah also pledged to solve the Kuki insurgency problem if the BJP was elected to power. “A new life will be given to the Kuki people by the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’. We have shown this in Assam by resolving the Bodo problem. No Bodo youth no caries arms in his hands. He holds but laptops and keys of industries and vehicles”, he said.

Manipur goes to polls in two phases on February 28 and March 5.
