Shillong, Nov 2: Born in Shillong, economist Bibek Debroy had his own contribution to Meghalaya while holding various positions.
Debroy, who was the chairman of Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council, passed away on November 1.

Chief Secretary DP Wahlang remembered him as a most remarkable and humble person.
“He wrote a coffee table book for Meghalaya He stayed in a humble room in Social Mobilization Experimentation and Learning Centre (SMELC ), Tura while collecting materials about his Garo Hills chapters”, Wahlang said.
Debroy was born in Shillong on January 25 1955. His father had worked with the Audit and Accounts Service. His grandparents had migrated from Sylhet.
