Shillong medical college intake is 50 MBBS seats

Shillong, Aug 25: Fifty students have been admitted in the first academic year of Shillong Government Medical College.

In a reply to a question by Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma in the Assembly, Health and Family Welfare Minister Wailadmiki Shylla on Tuesday said that the in-take is 50 students and the college started functioning from the academic year 2025-26.

The minister said the government has sanctioned 179 posts for the medical college — including one each of Director, Dean, Medical Superintendent, Chief Administrative Officer, Clinical Psychologist, Statistician and Chief Accounts Officer-cum-Financial Advisor.

Among the teaching posts, 17 are for Professors, 27 for Associate Professors, 41 for Assistant Professors, 40 Senior Residents, 22 Junior Residents and 25 Tutors/Demonstrators.
