According to Syngkon, NH-6, the primary national highway, passes through the states of Meghalaya, Assam, Tripura and Mizoram.

NH6 links some of the very important cities and towns in these 4 states including Jorabat, Shillong, Jowai, Silchar, Aizawl, Agartala and terminates near the India/Myanmar border.

“The section of road that falls under the East Jaintia Hills District of Meghalaya is in a deplorable state, especially the stretch from Jowai to Ratacherra where travellers/users have to go through a great ordeal because of the road condition. The situation gets even worse during the monsoon seasons and people are often stranded for days to get to their destination. This issue has been ongoing for a few years now and is causing great hardship from economic losses to even loss of precious human life to the citizens of the 4 states of Meghalaya, Assam, Mizoram and Tripura”, he said.

He urged the union minister to intervene and take immediate and necessary measures on the issue so as to alleviate the pain of the citizens of the states.
