Shillong, Aug 20: The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laoo has relaxed the curfew from 5 am to 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Shops are allowed to open till 5 pm only on Saturday and not on Sunday.

Earlier on Friday, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma told reporters that the overall law and order is under control as the government continues engaging with stakeholders to restore normalcy in the state capital following the violent protests on August 15.
Conrad said no major incidents have been reported in the last 24 hours.
“There has been calmness in most of the areas in the city,” he said while informing that continuous discussions with stakeholders are being held to ensure overall peace and normalcy return to Shillong.
