Hek for action against infiltration
Later, speaking to reporters, Cabinet minister AL Hek wanted the government and stakeholders to prevent influx.
“It is duty of the government and duty of even individuals also to ensure that influx should not take place in the state of Meghalaya,” Hek told reporters.
On the arrest of Bangladeshi nationals for attacking a villager in the border areas, Hek said it is the government’s responsibility to inform the Central authorities about the influx from outside the country.
“The various agencies, including the police and Border Security Force (BSF), are working to prevent influx,” the minister said.
Hek also welcomed the proposal of the government to come up with a new legislation or mechanism to protect Meghalaya from influx.
