Sixth KSU leader in custody for August 19 violence

Shillong, Sept: 12: Banjop Dkhar, president of KSU Shillong Mihngi Circle, was arrested by the police on Saturday.
This is part of the crack-down on those involved in the August 19 violence during the KSU-sponsored bike rally.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Meghalaya police arrested  the sixth leader of the union after he was picked up from near NEIGRIHMS on Friday night. .He will be produced before the court on Saturday , a KSU leader said.
Five top leaders are already in judicial custody. They are president Raymond Kharjana, vice president Pynkmenlang Sanmiet, general secretary Reuben Najiar, assistant organising secretary Jeremaiah Pohthmi and Mihngi Circle general secretary Samuel Kharbani.
The August 19 rally initiated by the KSU resulted in large-scale violence including damage to vehicles, properties and physical injuries.
Police have framed charges under MMPO Act, Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and BNSS.
