Smart City project got Rs 251 crore, clarifies Tynsong

Dy CM says audit for 2021-22 over, TMC's claim baseless

Shillong, Aug 18: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Thursday debunked the Trinamool Congress’s allegations of anomalies in the Smart City project as “baseless and political”.

Tynsong said the Trinamool Congress’s claim that the Shillong Smart City Limited (SSCL) was granted over Rs 1,005 crore for various projects by both the central and state governments “is factually incorrect”.

“They alleged that the fund of Rs 1,005 crore has been released which is totally wrong as till today the amount that we received under the SSCL is only Rs 251 crore of which Rs 55 crore is state share and only Rs 196 crore was from the central government,” he added.

About filing financial statements of SSCL with the Registrar of Companies (RoC) as per the Article of Associations, he clarified that it would be done after completion of audit by CAG and its adoption in the general body meeting.

“The book of account has just been audited and confirmed by the CAG that has already confirmed and next step is we have to file it. It will be done by next month,” the deputy chief minister said, adding that as per the rules, before filing of the financial statement, the board has to pass the CAG report and also the report of the statutory auditor.

Tynsong also informed that FY2020-21 has been audited by the statutory auditor and approved by the CAG and “therefore, the allegation made by TMC is totally malicious, baseless and political”.
