SPARK observes national education day with less privileged children

Shillong, Nov 11: Marking the birth anniversary of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of India, SPARK organised a special programme on Friday with the objective of promoting education of the underprivileged section of the society with major thrust on children and women.

The day was observed at Mawlynrei, Triashnong village.

In a statement, the SPARK said considering  the importance of education, it was initiated in 2010 with an objective to ” Make Education a Reality for Every Child” by setting up educational centres within the doorsteps of the children in various areas and localities with the concept ” If children cannot go to school, then the school should come to the children”.

Through this initiative children, women and community are provided free education since 2010 benefiting more than 9000 people till date thereby empowering them through knowledge and capacity building, the SPARK said.

According to SPARK, it looks forward to touching the lives of more and more individuals and brightening up their lives with education. The programme consisted of prayer services for brightening the lives of the children with the light of education followed by cake cutting celebrating the success of those already enrolled in education.

“We do need help and support of the wellwishers and concerned adults to implement our aims and objectives and thus look forwards to it with a humble appeal to all concerned”, said Shima Modak, founder of SPARK
