Shillong, July 20: A medical professional, who had cleared the NEET, came to Don Bosco Square, Laitumkhrah, here to protest against the silence of the Centre on the agony of students.
‘I had cleared NEET, I know the hard work involved, and imagine the situation when the students had to repeat the test, said Dr. Suhana K from Kerala, who is a staff in Bansara Eye Care Centre here.
She expressed her concerns and fears as many students lost their lives due to the mess, and demanded the resignation of the Union Education Minister and the Prime Minister.
She was among the many who gathered here to extend support to Sonam Wangchuk and the leaders of the Cockroach Janata Party.
Wangchuck has been on a hunger strike demanding action for the lapses.
Like Dr. Suhana, a leader of domestic workers in the state, Achal Gurung is anguished over the lack of response from the Centre.
A student identified as Musamil from English and Foreign Language University here, stressed the need of protecting rhe interests of the students as he called for action against those who are at the helm of affairs.
Activists Angela Rangad and Agnes Kharshiing, who extended support and participated in the protest, said that it is an eye-opener to improve the education system in Meghalaya.
Congress leader Manuel Badwar, who joined the protestors, supported their cause.
Badwar, who is the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee Secretary,
demanded accountability over exam paper leaks and education reforms.
