Sri Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture remembers stalwarts
Shillong, Sept 2: Sri Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture Shillong celebrated three important occasions recently.
Recently, it celebrated 78th independence day with theme viksit Bharat, 152nd birth anniversary of Indian philosopher yogi maharishi poet and nationalist Aurobindo Ghosh and also annual function of Mother’s School.
The chief guest was Iamonlang Syiem, chairperson of Meghalaya State Commision for Women.
Kripa Foundation and parents of Mother’s school Shillong also joined.
The colours of the national flag dominated the school for the event. Several tiny tots dressed as Rani Of Jhasi, Aurobindo, U Kiang Nongbah, APJ Abdul Kalam, U Tirot Sing and girls dressed as Sarojini Naidu, Begum Hazrat Mahal, Ka Phan Nonglait and Vijaya Lakhmi Pandit were an added attraction.
“The school was committed to educate children on the struggles and magnificent achievements of our male and female freedom fighters”, said Farida Khan Principal Mother’s School.
Children performed dance and songs on the occasion.
Syiem appreciated the vision of Mother’s School in teaching Sri Aurobindo’s integral education and mother Mirra Alfassa’s human spirit. Love is the supreme aspect that must be worked out in education, she added.
Dignitaries, parents and children paid tribute to Sri Aurobindo on his birthday anniversary.
