SSA teachers suspend agitation
Shillong, Oct 21: The All Meghalaya SSA School Teachers Association ( AMSSASTA ) has called off the agitation.
The agitation started on October 1 to demand increase in salaries.
Leaders of AMSSASTA met the cabinet minister and the spokesperson of the government Ampareen Lyngdoh to discuss this issue.
Speaking to reporters, AMSSASTA President Peter Thyrniang said that in the meeting with the minister and the commissioner secretary to education department Vijay Mantri, promise was made to the SSA teachers to fulfil their demand .
Thyrniang said that Ampareen conveyed that due to the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct in the state for the bypoll in Gambegre, the government has not announced this. AMSSASTA has decided to suspend the 21-day protest at Malki and will continue to monitor till the government implements it.
