
Shillong, Aug 27: The Meghalaya Board of School Education has announced that the SSLC examination, 2026, will be held in the last week of January.
“It is hereby notified for the information of all concerned that, as per the approval of the Government vide letter No. EDN. 122/2025/56, dated Shillong, the 25th August, 2025, the SSLC Examination, 2026 will be held in the last week of January, 2026. Further information concerning the examination will be notified in due time”, the MBoSE said in a notification issued on August 27.
The decision was made after a discussion with all the stakeholders.
Earlier, the plan was to hold the examination in December this year.
However, according to an official, based on the demands of the school associations, parents, it was decided to hold the examination in the last week of January.
Moreover, most of the secondary schools, especially rural schools, are yet to complete the course.
The parents fear that if the students complete the SSLC examination by December, they will have nothing to do in January, February, March and April and half of May. Most of the Boards, like ICSE, CBSE, and State Boards, declare results by May-June.
The SSLC examination,2026 will extend to February second week.
The date will also be convenient for those who seek re-examination as the result may be announced in March next, followed by a supplementary likely in April.
