St. Mary’s HSS at Rangblang concludes golden jubilee celebrations
Shillong, Oct 31: St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Rangblang, one of the oldest educational institutions in the South West Khasi Hills District, on Friday concluded the year-long celebration of its golden jubilee. The celebration, which began last October, culminated this October after a full year of commemorative activities.
St. Mary’s Rangblang was first established in 1927 as an LP School. It was later upgraded to a Middle English (M.E.) School in 1960, and eventually elevated to a Secondary School in 1975 by Rev. Father George Vanni (of blessed memory), who was then the Parish Priest of Pyndengrei Parish, Nongstoin. Fr. Vanni, moved by the hardships faced by underprivileged children and families of the area, worked tirelessly to upgrade the institution — a vision that has now flourished into fifty years of growth and service.
Cabinet Minister Methodius Dkhar and Nongstoin MLA Gabriel Wahlang attended the concluding celebration.
