State against administrator’s rule in GHADC

Shillong, April 22: The state government is not in favour of bringing the GHADC under the administrator’s rule.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister in- charge of district council affairs Prestone Tynsong on said that there are limits to what an administrator can do as far as governance is concerned.
“If an administrator is appointed, there is a limit for the administrator to pass the bill because this is linked to the amendment of the Rules and Act.”
He said a committee is working on separate electoral roll to enable the state to conduct the GHADC polls.
Border road
Tynsong on directed the central public works department (CPWD) and border security force (BSF) to issue No Objection Certificates (NOC) for construction of PMGSY-III roads along the international border with Bangladesh.
A joint meeting was held with the BSF and CPWD officials in this regard,
Tynsong said one of the stretches is in the Ranikor area where the road is under CPWD and BSF.
“The sanction has been accorded for reconstruction of roads but we need no objection certificate from both CPWD as well as BSF,” he told reporters.
