Shillong, Sept 13: The government has declared state mourning for three days starting from Saturday (Sept 13) following the death of former Chief Minister DD Lapang.
Lapang passed away at Bethany Hospital around 10.45 pm on September 12.
“On account of the demise of our former CM Dr DD Lapang, there will be a State mourning for three days starting Saturday, the 13th September, till Monday, the 15th September”, Chief Secretary DP Wahlang said.
The state funeral will be conducted at Students’ Field Jaiaw at 1 pm on September 15, and the burial will be at Jaiaw Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Weiking thereafter.
Educational institutes and government offices will function normally on September 15, and there will not be any holiday, the chief secretary added.
